Jade Goody racism

We have chosen to do big brother and the Shilpa Shetty and Jade Goody argument and racist comments. This was a massive problem for the show as Jade Goody was racist towards Shilpa Shetty and it caused lots of complaints made to the show and to Ofcom. Jade Goody was kicked out of the Big Brother house and had to apologise to the viewers.

By Jade being racist for the whole world to see she caused many problems all around. India were not happy with this and reacted in a very bad way. India In response to the alleged racism directed at actress Shilpa in the Big Brother House, protesters took to the streets in India and burned effigies of the show's organisers. The indian governemt raised the issue with the british government. Viewers would of felt very uncomfortable during the row in Big Brother because Jade was disrespecting her to a racist level, and whoever may have family or is from India will feel very offended and hurt by this.

I have complied with ethic issues before when I was trying to record a interview in the arndale and the security guard kicked us out because you aren't allowed to film there, our way around this was record the interview with the arndale sign in the background so that people can see the establishment.

The legislation and ethical issues are taken seriously when it comes to racist or offensive comments. Another example was when Tom daley was bullied on twiter when someone said 'youve let your country and your dad down' Lots of people got involved on the social network sites and it led to the 17 year old who made the comment being arrested. He wasnt charged with anything but it sets an example that you cant just say anything on social network sites.

After coming fourth in the men's synchronised 10m platform diving event on Monday, the 18-year-old from Plymouth received a message telling him he had let down his father, Rob.
Rob Daley died in May 2011 from brain cancer.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested at a guest house in the Weymouth area on suspicion of malicious communications.
Dorset Police said they acted after being contacted by a member of the public at about 22:30 BST on Monday.
A spokesman was unable to confirm whether the arrest was specifically over the tweets to Daley or subsequent Twitter conversations with other users.
Daley responded to the tweet by posting: "After giving it my all...you get idiot's sending me this..."
The user later posted a tweet apologising for the comment.
He said: "I'm sorry mate i just wanted you to win cause its the olympics I'm just annoyed we didn't win I'm sorry tom accept my apology."
He later added: "please i don't want to be hated I'm just sorry you didn't win i was rooting for you pal to do britain all proud just so upset."

The guy that  gave the twitter abuse later got arrested.

Jade goody in Big Brother made racist comments such as "There was no fault or no racial anything meant in any of those comments. It's not in me to be racial about somebody or to somebody because I wouldn't. It was just a tongue in cheek, Shilpa Poppadom." She carried this racism on even after she was informed about it. The regulators became involved because people were starting to take offence to it. Also Tony Blair, when he heard about the news said. "I've not seen the particular programme in question and therefore can't comment on it.
"But of course, I would agree entirely with the principle that we should oppose racism in all its forms." By 20 January, Ofcom received a record of more than 44,500 complaints from members of the public, while Channel 4 received an additional 3,000 complaints.

Under the Communications Act 2003, Ofcom has a statutory duty to set standards for the content of broadcast television programmes in a Code with which broadcasters must comply. Ofcom must ensure broadcasters comply with the Code and perform its duties in light of the European Convention of Human Rights which provides for the right to freedom of expression. Ofcom must exercise its duties in light of these rights and not interfere with the exercise of these rights in broadcast services unless it is satisfied that the restrictions it seeks to apply are required by law and necessary to achieve a legitimate aim. Jade Goody then went on to India's Big Brother to show that she is not racist.

Jade Goody's racist comments spiralled out of control and everybody was making comments on social netowrking sites such as Facebook. Also, articles in magazines and newspapers were all talking about the racism comments from Jade Goody.

This was contreversial because everybody was talking about it because people were so offended and disgusted by what she was saying and the amount of bullying that was going on. Everybody was shocked at how Jade did this infront of the whole world to see and seemed like she didn't care.
